A 6-minute video for parents to explain newborn hearing screening so they understand why their child will have this screening and why it is important to follow-up if their child does not pass the screen. The video is produced by the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM).
On the NCHAM website, scroll down to the video titled, “Giving Your Baby a Sound Beginning”. It is in English both with and without captioning. Just below is a video in Spanish both with and without captioning.
Here are sample scripts for use by hospital screeners developed by the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM). These scripts provide a balanced way of informing parents of their child’s hearing screening results. They can be adapted for use at your hospital.

The National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) has a newborn hearing screening training curriculum including a video overview. This curriculum is intended for training hospital and birth center personnel who perform newborn hearing screenings.
