Audiologists

Audiologists determine whether a child has a hearing loss using a diagnostic audiologic evaluation. For newborns that do not pass their newborn hearing screening test, Early Hearing Detection and Intervention guidelines recommend that this evaluation be performed by the time an infant is 3 months of age. Habilitation, including fitting amplification, and initiation of Early Intervention services should occur by 6 months of age.

Audiologists report the results of the diagnostic audiologic evaluation to the Pennsylvania Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention of the PA Department of Health using the following form:
